EDU 270 Lesson 2

I understand now why there are so many bright colors and posters in schools and classrooms. The colors help to catch the eyes of the students and help them to learn as well as keep eyesight strong In my classroom, I would like to apply this idea and use lots of color.
As for hearing, I am a music teacher and sound is a huge part of that job. The kids seem to really like uplifting songs with a good beat.  I have to play it a little louder than preferred or the students won’t sing, or can’t hear well enough to sing. After this lesson, I have started standing behind the speakers instead of in front of them to help my own hearing and headaches. This worked well for the few classes that I have had. Teaching band to 5th graders doesn’t have such an easy fix. I might have to get earplugs before I lose my ability to tell the difference between sounds.

  1. Hi Sarah,
Being behind the speakers (if possible) does sound like a good idea!
You may want to connect with some other music teachers and see what they do to help protect their hearing :)
